What is Color Guard?

Color Guard is a performance activity that involves dancing and spinning flags, rifles, and sabres. During the fall season, color guard performs with the marching band at football games, pep rallies, and local/national competitions. During the winter/spring seasons, color guard performs as the “Winter Guard” separate from the band at competitions both local and nationally.

How do I join?

Try-outs for our programs are advertised on our social media and the school announcements, so please follow our Instagram account Thecolonyhsguard to stay up to date on everything we’re doing!

·     Color Guard try-outs typically occur late-spring (April/May) and are open to any student who will be a TCHS student the following year.

·     Winter Guard try-outs typically occur after the fall band season has concluded (mid-November) and are open to any TCHS students.

What if I don’t have any experience?

No problem, we will teach you everything you need to know to be successful! Most color guard members show up to the audition completely new, and we have a great staff that can teach anyone how to do it. Your attitude, work ethic, and willingness to try things are the most important skills you can bring.

Why should I join?

Color guard is a lot of fun, and the TCHS guard is nationally recognized and has won numerous awards from both regional and local events! You get to travel a lot, make new friends, and learn new skills performing, dancing, and spinning equipment.

*Color guard also takes care of both your fine arts and PE credit requirement!!*
